Lose Weight and Get Fit – Make It Happen

Losing weight for most people seems to be an impossible journey that they could not achieve. That is not true of course. Here are some of the things that you can do in order to lose those excess pounds.

Start Today
If you really want to get fit there is no other perfect time to get started but today. Don’t wait for your birthday or New Year to lose weight, it is still the same thing. Pushing it back further will delay your plan thus there is a tendency that it may never happen. The time is now!

Get Moving - Exercise
So you have decided to finally do some exercise, what could be the most effective way to lose weight? While enrolling to the gym would come on top of mind this is not the only venue wherein you can lose weight. Doing physical activities that you like whether you are into sports or enjoying things that you like such as dancing can also be an exercise as long as you are moving. You not only get the benefit of shedding pounds, you also get to enjoy what you’re doing thus making it a fun activity and not think of it as exercise. Gone are the days of wasting your time in front of the t.v. and get some serious exercising.

Proper Diet
Eating the right kind of food is so tricky. There definitely needs to be some discipline on this part. If you are starting out on your losing weight journey, don’t make a sudden change on your food intake. Take it slowly by reducing your usual meal. Choosing the right kind of food also plays an important part in losing weight. Choose right in fiber foods such as whole wheat and brown rice instead of the usual starchy and rich in carbohydrates foods like white bread and white rice. Eat more vegetables and fruits. This may take a while to figure out but sooner or later you will get it eventually.

Monitor Your Weight
Keeping a weighing scale handy can certainly work for keeping your progress in record. However if you don’t have one don’t worry. You can also keep track of your progress by noticing at how your clothes suddenly fit you. Keep an eye on that.

Losing weight is a battle that most of us have lost. The key is to never give up, it may be frustrating at first but once you get your mind on it and really try to focus you can truly make a change. Be inspired by how much you have lost and try not to be distracted. Put your health on top of your priority, never take it for granted.

Diets Don’t Work

In losing weight, we certainly have to consider diet. We all know that carbohydrates contribute a lot in getting us fat so we need to stay away from this. Numerous diets have all been introduced in the promise of making us lose weight for a couple of days.
I hate to break it to you but diets never really work. You get deprived, you don’t function well, you get irritable or worse you might get sick. The body has a defense mechanism wherein if you don’t eat it will go SPM – Starvation Preservation Mode. Once your body gets food it will not burn the food and will store it as fat. That’s not good news at all.

Here are some of the things you can do:

Slowly decrease your food intake, your body might not get used to it thus you feel you are hungry but eventually once your body can adjust you will certainly get satisfied and won’t feel hunger.
Small frequent meals sometimes do the trick. Eat a little and your next meal will be on the next 4 hours. This helps increase your metabolism so you can easily burn what you ate. Compared to eating 3 full meals, small frequent meals have a lesser quantity.
Find alternatives, if you want to eat rice why not substitute it with brown rice. It is healthier and rich in fiber so it doesn’t store as fat. The same as bread, instead of white choose whole wheat or rye. If you want to feel full sweet potatoes are really good since it is so rich in fiber and it never stores as sugar and it has a lot of health benefits like vitamins and minerals.
Don’t Deprive yourself, if you are craving for something let’s say something sweet you can do so by eating only a small portion like half a donut or a thin slice of cake. Just to satisfy that feeling. Avoiding it will only make your craving worse and there is a tendency that you lose control so you tend to binge on it which is truly a bad thing and will make all your efforts put to waste.
The goal here is to find the right food to function better and to not to deprive yourself but have a much healthier body and a happy disposition.

Convenience
Find the time that will make you comfortable exercising. If you are a morning person then do your exercise in the morning or at night if you can’t do it in the morning. Do it on weekends if you don’t really have time during weekends. Also, find the things that you love doing. If you are into running or sports or dancing any physical activity will do as long as you are moving, do it as your daily routine and it will not be so much work on your part.

Enjoying Eating and Losing Weight

Source: Google

Food is a way of life. Tell me the name of the person who doesn’t enjoy eating. Isn’t eating one of the ways in enjoying and celebrating life? However, food can be the reason why they have gained so much weight and thus they are trying to avoid.

Who wouldn’t be able to resist a chocolate bar, a cake, a donut, a brownie, a cookie and I could go on and on forever. This are the foods that make us feel good and shoot up our endorphin levels, the hormone responsible for making us happy. This is a whole lot of sugar and on top of that packed with high calories.

Small frequent meals
This is much better than taking 3 regular meals. Small meals in frequency measure lesser than 3 meals a day and make a 4 hour interval in eating. This is the key to maintaining your weight and not gaining. Never skip meals, it will make your metabolism slower and your body will go defense mode for you. If you do not eat food and suddenly decide that you are going to eat it will go on and store the food you take as fat. Starving yourself will backfire on you, you will not be able to perform on your optimum plus you get irritable.

Satisfy your cravings
Even when you want to lose weight, you can still enjoy food. Gone are the days of bland foods that taste like cupboard and swallowing it is a chore. If you suddenly have the urge of eating potato chips, go ahead and give in. The trick is not to consume all of the contents in the bag but to just not make yourself feel deprived. Take a couple of pieces not half of the bag. Same thing with your sweet cravings, resisting will not work, it will just make it worse. Keep in mind, portion control.

Food is your friend not enemy if food was the culprit in making you fat then definitely food is also the solution in making it go away. Trying to lose weight isn’t as hard as you think it is.
